Abstract
This article analyses the Bentham’s writings about the Liberty of the press and it influence in Venezuela and Colombia at the beginning of the xix century. The article compares the bentham’s thought about the topic with Miguel Antonio Caro’s conservative ideas published in the newspaper El Nacional at the end of the xix Century in Colombia.
