Abstract

Surrogacy contract is an arrangement made between a couple and a surrogate (a women who bears a child for the couple), with the intent of relinquishing the child at its birth. ARTs especially surrogacy method pose a challenge to the conventional family laws. It distorts the legally sanctified concept of the parenthood and causes serious identity crisis to the child born through the ARTs. Surrogacy is one of the reproduction methods under ARTs which is also coined as corroborative reproduction and much of the controversy at present surround around the surrogacy arrangements, calling for legal scholar’s attention.
