Abstract
This homage to Professor David Siegel details the works of the most important commentator in the area of New York Practice. As the article states, he had an understanding of the practicalities of the law because he sought to practice, and not merely teach. His time in the trenches provided the Professor with the practical slant that became the cornerstone of his writings. He would teach for almost 50 years and traveled all the counties of New York doing educational programs. He has been cited more than 3,600 times by the New York State Courts, and 141 times by the New York Court of Appeals alone.
