Abstract

This article considers criticisms of the development project and whether these can be seen to herald ‘the end of the age of development’. In arguing that these criticisms are not necessarily fatal to the concept of development as an international policy, it considers efforts to reformulate the development project to take into account human rights concerns; the way in which such concerns have changed international approaches to development cooperation and assistance; and the future of development projects.
