Abstract
In this article about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), McAdoo reviews the highlights of the “exploratory phase” of ADR with reference to the key pieces of legislation that fueled ADR activity in Minnesota. This review constitutes an informative chronicle of the growth of ADR and may guide other states which do not have fully developed ADR options in place. It covers (1) a brief overview giving the context for the national ADR movement; (2) a history of Minnesota’s ADR initiatives; (3) a review of the key recommendations of the Minnesota Supreme Court/State Bar Joint ADR Task Force, and (4) a listing of some of the major unresolved issues in the ADR field.
