Abstract
Globalization presents unique challenges to the economic sovereignty of Caribbean states and territories. This Essay describes and analyzes the nature and impact of the following challenges: the OECD’s anti-tax haven and anti-money laundering initiatives; the United States-European Union World Trade Organization (WTO) banana dispute; the Antigua-United States WTO gambling dispute; the termination of EU sugar subsidies pursuant to WTO obligations; and the EU-CARIFORUM Partnership Agreement. The Essay explores the implications of the globalization – as represented by the challenges listed above – on the economic sovereignty of Caribbean states.
