Abstract
The author presents several ancient philosophical and legal concepts that, in his opinion, should be re-kindled for the reformulation of contemporary democracies in the Western world, particularly in the Americas. For this aim, he relies in the writings of two thinkers, one of the pagan Rome (Cicero), and other one, the eighteen century Protestant Englishman thinker, Edmund Burke.
