Abstract

This article is divided into two Parts. Part I will give an overview of what the Initial Report of the Holy See to the Committee on the Rights of the Child on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and what subsequent reports say about the Holy See and international order with special attention to its uniqueness in international law, its three Reservations and one Interpretative Declaration to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), and its position on treaty interpretation. Part II will consider the general or core principles contained in the CRC as first developed by the Committee and then compared and contrasted with those proposed by the Holy See.
