The Puzzle of the Two-Envelope Puzzle

All previous research on the well known two-envelope paradox has focused on how the comparison ought to be made between the possible gain and loss. This paper shows that no sensible comparison can be made at all given all relevant information. Thus the puzzle of the two-envelope puzzle is the ironical fact that making use of more information sometimes reduces the solvability of a problem.
