AndersonUniversity of Washington School of Law Tulsa Law Review, Vol. 42, No. 1, 2006 Abstract: This paper provides a brief review of modern federal Indian water right settlements, with a focus on the Snake River Basin Adjudication Water Rights Settlement Act of 2004 (Nez Perce Tribe). It critiques the Federal Administration's use of the Criteria and Procedures for Indian Water Settlements, which have been in place since 1990. It offers some suggestions for improvement in federal policies regarding financial contributions to Indian water rights settlements.
