Statistical Analysis of the Regional Disparities Concerning the Economic GrowthElisabeta JabaAlexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi- Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Christiana Brigitte Balanaffiliation not provided to SSRN Cornel IatuAlexandru Ioan Cuza University December 4, 2008 SFC & CLADAG, Book of Short Papers, pp. 325-329, June 11-13th 2008 Abstract: Abstract We consider that the factors defining the local environment have impact on the economic growth and determine the existence of the regional disparities. To verify this hypothesis, we analyse, using the PCA method and the 3 Sigma rule, a set of variables for the 42 Romanian counties. The results obtained allow us to highlight the spatial distribution of the growth factors and the explanation of the regional disparities. The information obtained is useful for the foundation of the regional development strategies.
