E-Commerce Law Report: Harris, et al v. Blockbuster, Inc.Candidus DoughertyRutgers School of Law - Camden June 28, 2009 E-Commerce Law Reports, Vol. 9, Issue 1, June 2009 Abstract: On June 3, 2008, Cathryn Elaine Harris, Mario Herrera and Maryam Hosseiny (collectively referred to as plaintiffs) commenced a class action lawsuit against Blockbuster, Inc. ("Blockbuster") in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The action arises from Blockbuster's alleged violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act by transmitting information regarding its online users' video rentals and purchases to the social networking site, Facebook. The most recent development in the case, now pending before the Northern District of Texas, is an order from the Court denying Blockbuster’s motion to compel arbitration.
