Economics and Political Economy in Lionel Robbins's WritingsFabio MasiniUniversity of Rome III - Department of Public Institutions, Economics and Society August 5, 2009 Journal of the History of Economic Thought, Forthcoming Abstract: The aim of this paper is to systematically enquire into the relationship Robbins sets in his writings - prior to the Essay and further brought out in several subsequent works - between 'economic science' and 'political economy' in order to understand the role of each in the work of the economist, thus hopefully contributing to a reconsideration of the place occupied by the Essay and by Robbins himself in the history of economic thought.
