Low Cost Airlines in Colombia? (Aerolíneas De Bajo Costo en Colombia?) (Spanish)Carlos Alberto MantillaUniversidad Externado de Colombia 2003 Anuario Turismo y Sociedad, No. 2, pp. 63-74, 2003 Abstract: The opening up of the market in Colombia saw increased competition with the entry of new operators offering more flexible tariffs. The competitive advantage of each airline is vital and all are working to maximize benefits and minimize costs, and thus survive the negative effects of September 11. Both airlines and travel agents must overcome the problem of price competition. This has given the airlines the opportunity to commercialize low cost services that are favorable to both the business itself and its customers.
