Abstract:
The traditional position of Muslims about apostasy is that it is punishable; rather punishable by death. Ijma (consensus) is also invoked to rationalize the traditional position. What is really the evidence in the Qur'an and the Prophetic legacy in support of the traditional position? This essay examines the pertinent evidence as well as offers a fresh perspective from the Qur'an's business-like perspective.
