Abstract:
The paper deals with an important aspect of international economic relations, the foreign direct investment (FDI), through the example of the Russian economy which grew rapidly before the recent global crisis. It exhibits the general tendencies of Russia’s modern economic development with a special emphasis on the post-Soviet transition process. Thereafter the country’s capital imports and exports are investigated in detail, surveying the sectoral structure of FDI and its geographical characteristics. The international role of Russian transnational corporations is also analysed.
