Abstract:
The paper sketches a three-pronged orientation that is both psychometrically sound and at the same time authentic. It’s also transparent and applicable to measurement beyond “reading” and “math.” It doesn’t involve filling in bubbles on paper-pencil, multiple-choice tests, and it doesn’t generate unmanageable files of student work-efforts. Each of the three prongs has been developed and debugged outside the education sector. The measurement technology sketched simply applies and integrates extant technologies to harness them for current and future educational purposes.
