Abstract:     
A Central Asian tale found in a typewritten risola guild text of the early 20th century parallels the well-known story of Cinderella. In Central Asia, the telling of this story often takes place in the context of an exclusively female ritual feast honoring a patron known as Bibi Seshambe.
