Abstract:     
This article addresses updates in Family Law Jurisprudence between 2002 and 2003. This includes Legislative Changes, Parental Decision-Making Authority, Adoption, Termination of Parental Rights, Putative Fathers, Reproductive Technology, Separation Agreements, Custody and Visitation: Third Party Standing, Same-Sex Unions, Matrimonial Law, and Child Support: Cost of Living Adjustments. Legislative changes includes: law guardian compensation, grandparents standing in child custody proceedings, emergency contraception for rape victims, orders of protection for victims of domestic violence. Parental decision-making authority includes: medical decision making for dying children, and sterilization of a mentally retarded adult child. Adoption includes: adoption by an unmarried couple, and biological father’s rights. Termination of Parental Rights includes: the reasonable efforts requirement, hearsay in child’s case file and fundamental fairness, due process rights of children in termination proceedings: likelihood of adoption, and courts’ authority to allow post-adoption visitation with biological relatives. Reproductive technology includes: infants recovery for wrongful life, and medical malpractice. Separation agreements includes: Totten Trusts, and prenuptial agreements as separation agreements.
