This contribution deals with Article 51 of the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties according to which coercion upon State's or International Organization's representative expressing the latter's consento to be bound, entails the absolute nullity of the treaty. A thorough analysis of the travaux préparatoires, of the doctrine, relevant State practice as well as International Case Law is thus made in this commentary.
