The world has seen many volatile times and there might be some more waiting in the queue for the business community. The top priority by businesses should be given towards perseverance of competitive advantage that is resistant to change. IT can be imagined as an injection full of steroids to boost the performance of a firm. If one firm or industry after adopting certain type of IT, reaps benefits, then the adoption process immediately starts. Cloud computing is a collection of internet based service that has vast amount of capabilities. From an economic development perspective cloud computing can not be ignored. The opportunities of adopting cloud computing in government bodies, SMEs are numerous that leads to economic development and creation of large, better skilled, digitally literate workers pool. This paper tries to give the IT investment behavior of the firms in volatile times and also emphasizes the advantages of cloud computing to government organization, SMEs, rural population and on the whole economy of a nation.
