Facts of the MatterBernard Liebowitz, PhD, CMCaffiliation not provided to SSRN January 14, 2011 Abstract: Facts in support of a decision, a plan, a solution to a problem, do not appear ex cathedra, but have to be selected. What are the cognitive processes underlying the selection of facts? In particular, where do we tend to look when seeking out facts? What determines where we look? What influences how we look? How do we make sense of the facts once we have them in hand? This paper suggests some answers to these questions as well as offers a model for how fact selection can be made more useful.
