Abstract:
The compatibility and convergence between Islam and democracy are hotly debated. There are those who believe that these two are utterly incompatible and those who believe that not only the two are compatible, but also democracy is an essential dimension of Islam. The contending positions about this issue are often based on certain mutual misperceptions, which are discussed in this brief paper.
