The 2010 World Health Report Background Papers - A Review of ReviewsWerner SoorsPrince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) March 29, 2011 IPH Working Paper No. 1/2011 Abstract: The aim of this work is to facilitate access to the wealth of data in the 52 background papers behind the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 2010 World Health Report, for health researchers and policymakers alike. Throughout the 52 sections, a consistent logic (title, authors, number of pages, type of study, level of analysis, key lessons...) has been applied and aims at providing easy guidance and comprehension. Where related technical briefs were made available by the WHO, reference is made to these. Each section concludes with a line on relevance for Indian health policy, since this review of reviews is meant to initiate the long-awaited series of Institute of Public Health Bangalore (IPH) working papers. The author trustfully assumes that the non-Indian readers will determine the relevance for their particular health policy all by themselves.
