Can You Live on a Prayer?: An Empirical Analysis of a Marriage Market in Japan

Abstract:     
Employing an original matching data of a Japanese marriage market from a marriage matching servicer, the paper analyzes who and who marries and why so, while related literature employs not matching data, but conditional data. It shows when positive or negative assortative matching occurs in the marriage market.
