Between Carlos Lehder and the Cocaine Cowboys: The Consolidation of the Colombian Drug Dealing Networks in Miami in the 70sEduardo Saenzaffiliation not provided to SSRN June 30, 2011 Cuadernos de EconomÃa, Vol. 30, No. 54, p. 105, 2011 Abstract: This article covers the cocaine and marihuana imports from Colombia to Miami during the 1970s. It describes the organized networks in charge of these illicit activities. It is pointed out that Colombians cooperated with traffickers belonging to other nationalities (mainly Cubans and Americans). Finally, it is shown that the violence unleashed by Colombian traffickers in Miami at the end of the 70s was fully oriented to rival Colombian bands.
