There is a severe demand for people who can diagnose and treat diabetes patients. The paper presents a case study project aimed towards enabling fast and detailed training of the basic health care nurses in the problems. The project assumes that at least a vast majority of the nurse group of the country involved should pass the upgrade education course. This excludes the well-known educational methods and implies application of the e-training and distant learning methods on a big scale. The basic experience gathered during a several year period of the project execution is presented.
