Review of the Book 'Shaykh of Sayed 'Ali Hujveri Shaikh Abu Al-Fazl Khuttali'

Abstract:     
This is a review by a pupil of the book of his most favorite teacher under whose supervision and guidance he had been involved in the pursuit of knowledge throughout his career. Professor Dr. Zuhoor Ahmad Azhar, Professor of Hujveri Chair, formerly Dean of the Arabic Department of Oriental College, University of the Punjab, Lahore (Pakistan). Professor Dr. Zuhoor Ahmad Azhar is a name well known throughout Pakistan with reference to his acumen in Arabic language. He is well versed in English, Urdu, Persian and Punjabi at the same time. He hails from the valley of 'sun skaaysar' in the suburbs of District Khushab and has been blessed to have his share in various pursuits of knowledge both internal and external. Humble, serene and very polite and sweet in is dealings he is welcomed every where. His love for the Auliya-i-Kiram is so deep that he has put every effort to serve their cause by his pen. The peculiarity of his works is depth and research and making the subject crystal clear. The present book under review is a living example of his expertise and vivid vision of the subject. His approach is always in the light of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (صَلَّی اللہُ عَلیۡہِ وَ آ لِہٖ وَسَلَّم) but in no way orthodox or backward. His style of writing is logical, to the point, reasonable and appealing to the heart and mind.

The present book comprises 183 pages out of which 156 pages deal with the subject and 27 contain the references and the marginal notes. The book has been divided into 8 parts, namely, Preliminary, Introduction, Khuttal to Bayt al-Jinn, Shaykh Abu al-Fazl Khuttali Shami, the Spiritual Teacher of Sayyid Hujver in the light of Kashf al-Mahjub, Junaidi mystic order of Tasawwuf and the Murshid Lahore, the Conclusion , references and marginal notes.
