Abstract:
Empowerment of women is a process aimed at changing the nature and direction of systematic forces which marginalize women in the society. Women are marginalized in decision-making due to lack of experience which affects their self-confidence and skill. Empowerment needs self-realization, self-awareness and emotional intelligence. This paper discusses on need for the participation of women in politics, their trend of participation, need for quota system and importance of Women’s Reservation Bill in West Bengal.
