Abstract:
Liberation movements experienced many ways of peaceful and violent struggle. although the majority of these experiences were armed struggle, almost all of them culminated in peaceful resolutions and conventions. The tendency of the liberation movements towards peace didn’t come as a way to escape the illegitimacy (armed struggle) to the legitimacy (peaceful ways), since this armed struggle got the legitimacy through many conventions and international practices. Choosing any of the two ways is attributed to the nature of the conflict, some countries were able to reach self-determination peacefully, others culminated their struggle for liberation by agreements which lead to the establishment of its own state.
