Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in India: Some Regulatory Issues

Abstract:     
This article discusses regulatory aspects of REITs in Indian economy. The discussion on regulatory issues is based on draft version of the proposed REITs regulation. The major issues covered are taxation, transaction cost, foreign investment, fees, constraints on investment portfolio, minimum holding period and ownership structure.
