'State Orphans' in the United States: A Failure of Intergenerational Solidarity

Abstract:     
This article reviews the situation of youth exiting foster care in the United States in a time of economic crisis and argues that reforms are needed to insure that children who are taken into state custody for their own protection do not exit into a social and economic void.
