The smaller banks base the reasons of their competitive success on the depth and consolidation of customer relations. These characteristics may contrast, however, with the incapacity to totally manage a corporate client’s finances, thus risking losing the central nature of the function of credit within bank management. The network organisation, as an area for the preferential exchange between a group of companies that work together, is therefore a suitable solution from both a technical and a strategic point of view. The Financial Center proposes to contain two company departments that are conceptually different but which are integrated on an operational level: Assessment of creditworthiness and management of the corporate client’s finance. This is therefore a specialised body that supports the preliminary investigation work carried out for lines of credit in small banks, wherever they are not big enough to make the setting up of their own similar structure worthwhile, which may also move towards the management of corporate clients’ treasury, in more advanced structures.
