Abstract:
This short piece arguee that the Auto-rickshaw sector in Delhi too deserves economic liberalization like the cycle rickshaw sector as there are many similarities in the past and prevailing regulatory frameworks of the two sectors. The only difference between the Auto-rickshaw sector and cycle rickshaw sector is that while judicial activism led to a liberalization of cycle rickshaw sector in Delhi, it led to permit system in the case of the latter.

Second, the paper compares Manushi judgment with corresponding realities in Auto-rickshaw sector and argues that a fit case for review of cap on the number of auto rickshaws in the city exists.
