Oil Terminal Ship-Shore Interface: Time in Port

Abstract
Using data supplied by the US government’s Defense Logistics Agency for eighty-five loadings of twenty-four tank vessels at fourteen terminals around the world, this paper will look at the elements that contribute to a vessel’s time in port. For each operation, comparative and descriptive data is provided for product tankers time in a load port will include the time a vessel is moored, completion of inspections, connection/disconnection of cargo hoses, and commencement and completion of cargo handling. The variances between these operations on a global scale, as well as between individual ships and terminals when sufficient data is available, will be examined.
