Abstract

Moses I. Finley (1912-1986) was one of the leading ancient historians of the post-war period. His many books and articles have had a significant impact on the historical profession. This paper seeks to measure the extent of his scholarly impact by means of a bibliometric approach, assessing his contribution in terms of citation counts and in relation to the work of other prominent scholars in the same field.
