Abstract

This is the second of a series of four articles on Common Good adapted from the author’s doctoral dissertation. This article starts from the three variables in the morality construct in the Catholic Magisterium to review the current related business literatures; their debates and weakneses of their propositions in corporate social responsibility and corporate philanthropy as efforts to restore the Common Good. The author concludes that there is solid foundation in there to research the Common Good practised by examining the nexus between corporate philanthropy and corporate financial performance.
