Abstract

The State which showed the main participation in the regional agribusiness is Rio Grande do Sul, followed by Parana and Santa Catarina, each revealing a total of R$ 49, R$ 43 and R$ 32 billion, respectively. The agribusiness’ employment generation symbolizes a third of the workforce for the southern region. Regarding tax generation, the southern region collected R$ 8.5 billion with the agribusiness in 2004, which represents 24% of the total in this sector for the entire country.
