Abstract

The major objective of this paper is to Investigate the role of women in Agricultural Extension Services in Gusau LGA in Zamfara, State of Nigeria. The major conclusions drawn from this paper were local govt administration did not provide technical support, provision of inputs and transportation facilities to women to facilitate extension work. Apart from extension women undertake other activities such as crop production and storage of agricultural products in the area. Null hypothesis is rejected and alternate hypothesis is accepted. It is therefore recommended that local leadership should recommend women to register for adult literacy programmes so as to uplift the level of literacy in the area. Monitoring and evaluation of extension staff is necessary to improve extension services for rural farmers.
