Abstract
This article is contribution toward product configuration according to customers preferences, based on data mining of personal computer retail selling. New contributions toward the IT equipment configuration and selling improvement can be provided through the real-time business intelligence usage. It is done by offering products that customer is likely to buy, according to his preferences, beside products that he already did buy. Sector of ICT products for personal usage is distinct due to fast development of computer’s components and extensions with growing performances and price that decline. We analysed historical data in Croatian retail sale, with sample rate of N=2000, trying to identify inter-relations and rules dominates PC processors buying and choosing certain other components at the same time. Basket analysis method was successfully used for the determination of association rules valid for relation between certain items. We focused on two categories of buyers: those which buy AMD processor and those that choose Intel processor. With association rules method, we established certain characteristics product configurations for the certain customers segments.
