Abstract

English Abstract: This article examines if the data on pensions included in the Continuous Sample of Working Lives (CSWL) are valid for certain types of projections on the sustainability of the public pension system. The CSWL is analyzed considering the data grouped by type and amount of benefit, age cohorts and gender. After performing the appropriate statistical tests on the adjustment of the sample to the population, it is concluded that the CSWL, as a whole, is not a true reflection of the distribution followed by the population in each year, by type of pension, age, sex, and amount. This result warns us about the possible adverse effects on the projections made about the Spanish public pension system.
