Abstract

This is the Foreword to a Report on the detrimental human rights impacts of the operations of the palm oil industry and contributory actions of local and national governments in Central Kalimantan in Indonesia. The Foreword summarizes the scope of human rights abuses, outlines their causes, and identifies responsibilities. It also explains the methodology used by the report’s authors and the political, social and economic contexts in which they conducted the study.
