Abstract

This is a review essay of the fourth volume entitled “Interdisciplinary Transgressions” in the series of Collected Papers in Theoretical Economics by Kaushik Basu. It attempts to capture the spirit behind seemingly disparate papers that Basu has written on various themes that relate to Political Economy, Moral Philosophy, and Economic Sociology, apart from the methodology of Economics itself. It lays down the methodological as well as conceptual common thread that binds his papers in this as well as other volumes in as non-technical language as is feasible.

Keywords: Political Economy, Moral Philosophy, Economic Sociology, Extended Sympathy, Principle of Free Contract, Cultural Traits
