Perspectives of American Corporate Universities in the Higher Education Context: A Multicase StudyCristiane Alperstedtaffiliation not provided to SSRN Abstract: Corporate universities are spreading around the world. Since they are offering educational services that were mostly offered only by higher education institutions, and some of them are granting degrees by themselves or in partnership with some higher education institutions, is appropriated to analyze if they represent a situation of competition or an opportunity of cooperation for higher education institutions. This study discusses the results of a qualitative research developed in the United States with three corporate universities. The prevalent opinion is that there is a situation of competition. But once there isn't a majority or unanimity of answers, the context reveals that is essential that higher education institutions be proactive in establishing partnerships with corporate universities in order to inhibit their independent action, and at the same time increase their market share.
