Abstract

Business, ethical, and legal challenges of starting-up and investing in a top-rated hospitality business in Cuba are investigated. This is a case study of Cuban entrepreneur’s experience and the options of an America n friend whom he has invited to invest. It is ready-to-use in a classroom for debating business, ethical, and legal questions. Teaching notes offer generalizable lessons and guidance on navigating U.S. and Cuban law and an ethical reasoning framework related to PRME Principles. The content on law and ethics could inform further research on whether and how Americans can invest in markets restricted by rapidly evolving sanctions regimes.
