Abstract:
The study analyses standard solutions for the rating of German SMEs on the background of fundamental minimum requirements, which the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has established for the adequacy of rating practices.

We found that only three of the solutions essentially fulfill the minimum requirements of the Basel Committee. The remaining tools cannot be recommended for professional risk management in enterprises.
