Abstract:     
The article covers the structure of higher education in India right from the British Period till independence. It also covers the recent trends in the higher education structure over the past decade and the issues and challenges involved with the same. The article ends with the sustenance of commercialization aspect in Indian Higher education system through improved quality procedures.
