Abstract:     
The developments taking place in information and communication technology are affecting the financial institutions worldwide. This evolution had transformed the way banks deliver their services, using technologies such as automated teller machines, phones, the Internet, credit cards, and electronic cash. In this spirit, banking in Romania has been undergoing some changes. Many banks have been investing in Internet technology in order to maintain a competitive edge.

This paper presents various aspects regarding the application of information and communication technology in the context of a developing nation.
