Encouraging Moderation in State Policies on Collecting Food Stamp ClaimsDavid SuperUniversity of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law Clearinghouse Review, Vol. 39, No. 5/6, pp. 349-358, September 2005 U of Maryland Legal Studies Research Paper No. 2006-22 Abstract: Regulations issued by the Food and Nutrition Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture in July 2000 promote efficient and effective food stamp claims collection by the states. These regulations give states significant flexibility in tailoring their procedures on filing claims. States can incorporate waiver and compromise policies that increase efficiency and can serve low-income households.
