Abstract

This study reviews the balanced scorecard (BSC) which is a strategic performance management tool. The BSC provides a comprehensive set of financial and nonfinancial performance measures for the organizations to be strategy focused. Although introduced a short time ago, the BSC has become a widespread performance management tool throughout the world. The study includes a survey on the adoption of the balanced scorecard in the biggest 500 Turkish manufacturing companies. The survey also investigated the opinions of the managers of the BSC user companies about the BSC.
